| The new Museum of Islamic Art has opened in Doha, capital of Qatar.
The Museum is one of the most important building projects of its type in the world due to the exceptional quality of its architectural design.
Designed by Japanese architect I. M. Pei, the centre is intended to make the small Arabian state the cultural centre of the Middle East. The new Museum of Islamic Art stands on an artificial island surrounded by huge palm trees in Doha Gulf, and has a surface area of more than 35 thousand square metres surrounding a large central courtyard. An original stainless steel central Molteni stove, 5000 x 1860 mm, furnishes the kitchen of its five star restaurant.
