Electrolux equips the new arm of a culinary school based in Ibiza

Ibiza has a strong reputation as a party island, and there is much more to it than excellent nightclubs. Ibiza is indeed the closest of all the Balearic Islands to mainland Spain and has a 200 km / 125 mile coastline, with many small coves and over 50 stunning beaches. With a great gastronomy to top it up, it is no surprise that Ibiza fills with an impressive number of international fun loving tourists every year.

The Balearic Islands are getting ready to accommodate this booming tourism influx. The local government and education counsel supported a project to install the new delegation of an existing culinary school in Ibiza itself: the Escuela de Hostelería Sa Blanca Dona de Eivissa. Pere Palau, both Tourism Counsel and Council President for the Islands of Ibiza and Formentera, explains: ''the expansion of the culinary school is the result of a long lasting historical evolution and will complement the educational programmes already offered by the Tourism Institute to best serve the local tourism industry.''

In the new Sa Blanca Dona training centre, specific courses with à la carte education will be provided, so great chefs – not just cooks – will be trained. The Balearic Islands government has invested around EUR 600.000 in this 5-year long project, which is now coming to an end. ''The kitchens of the new centre are already built,'' says Palau. The choice of Electrolux emerged after several meetings with the major kitchen managers of the culinary school, architects and engineers. All of them decided to go for the advice received from our Electrolux Agency in The Balearic Islands : Sistema Professional Hostelería, S.L. ''Both the technology of the appliances and the technical advice were fundamental in our decision to choose Electrolux.''

The main cooking zone consists of :
• a central island from the 900 line on a closed cupboard base, comprising four ranges with two open top burners, four solid tops, two ribbed plate fry tops, two electric fryers and some open bases ;
• a wall type cantilever from the 700 line, comprising four electrics plates, solid top, fry top and neutral zone, over closed cupboard bases;
• and a combi steamer level 4 oven.
In addition, the dishwashing zone was equipped with two electronic hood type dishwashers.

A team from Sertecma, the official technical service agent of Electrolux on The Balearic Islands, was in charge of all the installation and provided comprehensive advice to all the technical staff of the Escuela de Hostelería Sa Blanca Dona de Eivissa.
